Keep Calm & Carry On

You’ve seen a “Keep Calm & Carry On” poster, I’m sure. It’s almost everywhere: T-shirts, bags, notebooks, button pins, mugs, phone cases, iPad cases, etc. A government project is currently using it. Remember Keep Calm and NOAH Muna ? But do you know the history behind it? Do you know the meaning of Keep Calm and Carry On? It was a propaganda poster produced in 1939 by the UK government during World War II. Objective was to raise the morale of the British public. (Source: Wiki)

Original 1939 Keep Calm and Carry On Poster

I forgot where and when I first saw the poster but it made me “calm” in a way during those times I was too stressed over a situation that I had to resort to ranting online (which by the way was a huge mistake). I posted it as my profile pic on Facebook, trying to convince myself to have a calm spirit. I failed.

But since then, I look at a Keep Calm & Carry On framed print I have at home to remind myself to be really calm and quiet this time. There’s no point in ranting and getting mad especially when the other party is oblivious to your feelings.  KEEP CALM. Breathe. 1…2…3….CARRY ON. Smile and go on living. God is looking at you.

Personally, it’s a Psalm 46:10 reminder for me:

Be still, and know that I am God.

It’s a reminder that I need to be quiet, calm and remember God is sovereign because He is. No matter how busy and stressful life can be, whatever challenges come your way, or how annoying a certain person is, GOD is sovereign and that He knows what He is doing.

KEEP CALM and CARRY ON. What does this personally mean to you?

While we’re at it, allow me to share these funny and cute pillows again. I told you, I’m into pillows right now. And just recently, I found out the story and the person behind these designs, making me more than willing to promote the products by ARQ Curtains. 🙂

Perfect to show to my husband and son when they don’t want to switch off the light. Please! I can’t sleep!

Para sa mga lasenggero — although my husband disagrees that beer can make a person calm. (And no, I don’t promote drinking. :p )

I would love to get this for myself, my sister, my brother, and so many people I know. Mommy knows best! There are so many times that I  want to call my mom when everything isn’t going well in my life. Thank God there’s Facebook and Facetime that I can easily “call” mom. I miss her.

These pillows are available only in Zalora. Each pillow costs P499.75.

If you think it’s expensive, believe me when I say you’ll be paying for quality. As a homemaker, I’ve bought cheap ones that  would’t last. At first, I was after quantity. I have lots of throw pillow covers accumulated over the past years–the ones I bought from the local department stores or bazaars that cost below a hundred bucks. They won’t last. Check the zippers and the stitching. Cheap cushion covers would only last a few washings. As for the pillows, buy high quality ones so they will also last. It’s okay to spend for household items especially those that you use everyday. Buy quality, not quantity. (Note to self.)

Did I just give tips on being a homemaker? Yikes. Haha! I have friends who are getting married soon, this post might help. 🙂

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27

  1. The Keep Calm image has become quite popular, especially on the meme-front. Even I have to admit that I’ve taken the time to create a Keep Calm and Plagiarize poster for amusement purposes.
