It’s a new app developed by a Filipino tech start up that lets you explore the best places in Metro Manila. It’s probably the best app for the local foodies, spa junkies, and nightlife lovers out there. It’s like Twitter for the gimikeros who like to review, okray, or simply share their experiences at a restaurant, spa, or wherever.
The looloo app allows you to search for places nearby within an area in the city. It offers suggestions by your friends and other looloo users. I’ve heard and read these verses many times already but I didn’t really understand what they meant until today. The phrase “to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” struck me the most. We always knew that God is an all-powerful God but sometimes, we never really regard Him as someone who could do more beyond our imagination. Oftentimes, we take Him for granted by simply praying and asking that He bless or protect us. That’s it.
We forget that we can actually ask Him for miracles. He is the same God who did miraculous signs wonders in the Old and New Testament. Some people will say that miracles are not for the modern times and God wouldn’t speak to His people as He spoke to Abraham, Moses, or Noah. How come? He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So why wouldn’t He speak to you? Why wouldn’t He perform a miracle in your life?
I don’t know with you but the verses from Ephesians challenged me to “challenge” God and even dream bigger.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (NIV)
This isn’t anything about Taylor Swift. Nothing about teardrops on my new guitar either but I almost cried when Noah hit the new guitar less than 30 minutes after I brought it home. He was the one who cried because I was shocked and I was keeping myself from shouting. Oh well….it’s not his fault anyway.
I bought that guitar. Husband and I almost forgot about the Handog Sale of Yupangco this year. I went on the last day, on the last hour–October 31 at around 5PM. The store closes at 6PM and I went out of the house at 4pm. Traffic was already heavy along Shaw Blvd. After 15 minutes or so of walking and hailing a cab, I got one. On my way, I discovered the ARQ Curtain Bodega Sale which got me excited.
I knew what I wanted to buy so I just asked one of the guys there for the Washburn guitar on sale. He led me to the area where guitars in boxes are stacked on top of each other. New shipment came in the morning according to him. He tested the guitar and off we went to the cashier to pay.
While at the cashier, I asked one of the employees if they know Mae. I told the lady that Mae replied to my blog. And then she remembered, “Ay ma’am kayo pala yun.” Then she started telling the other guys. The sales guy who assisted me said he read my entry. It was cool that Yupangco staff remembered. I was so happy!
I also bought a pair of NOVA drumsticks by Vic Firth for the little boy and new Fender strings for the husband. 😀

Since Noah is in his LEGO phase, I want to share all things Lego or at least those that I know and have. I have bought tons of Lego bricks for the little boy already– both LEGO mini bricks and LEGO Duplo bricks. All those were purchased second-hand from my trusted Facebook and eBay sellers. I can say that Noah has enough already. But for now, he couldn’t play with them yet so Daddy and Mommy are the ones enjoying the bricks.
And recently, I’m fascinated with the LEGO Minifigs (uh oh…). This I have to stop myself from buying because I still haven’t recovered from my Playmobil addiction. The thing with some parents, toy shopping is actually enjoyed more by them…by us. Well, between me and my husband, that would be me enjoying every time we go to Toy Kingdom or Toys R US. I could spend hours inside just checking the toys both for the girls and boys–Barbie, Sylvanian Family, Disney Toys, Hello Kitty, Tomica, Matchbox, LEGO, etc.
I bought the LEGO Bible books last month. This November, I’m targeting the Lego Shell Ferrari Promo. Problem is, we don’t have a car so we don’t go to Shell to gas up. My in-laws only go to Petron. I don’t know how else I’m gonna get the LEGO Cars because everyone I know is also collecting.

Sounds like a new superhero but it’s not. It’s the looloo I’ve been talking about for the past weeks. Remember that Kapitolyo Foodie Map Guide and SPAS 101 I shared? Those infographics were released by a local tech startup to introduce it’s very own mobile app.
looloo is going live on Tuesday, November 20. Apple has finally given the green light to launch the looloo on the App Store. No definite time has been given but expect it to be available in the evening here in the Philippines.
What is looloo?
It’s a friend-powered guidebook to Manila’s best places. At first, I thought it’s just for the foodies but looloo also covers salons, barbershops, hotel spas, nightlife spots, and other places of interest around the metro.
I’ve been beta-testing this app and it’s been fun to use. So you just tried a new resto? Review it. If you like it, recommend it to your friends. More often than not, people go to different establishments as recommended by family and friends. The people who know you best always know what you will like.

I went to ARQ Curtains’ Bodega Sale earlier this afternoon and I went crazy shopping for curtains and pillowcases! I finally completed the Modern Vintage Collection. I bought several pairs of curtains under the CORTINA Line and new throw pillow cases. Why, their P500 pillowcases were down to P100! I’m not kidding! The curtains they usually sell for P1,000 per panel are down to P400….lowest was P150. I think only a few will understand this craziness. Pillows and curtains? Aanhanin ko yun. If you’re a true-blue homemaker, you’d understand. Thank God I have a husband who understands why I love such stuff and appreciates our home. 🙂

As long as we live, we will always be discouraged. And when we are discouraged, more often than not, we lose our perspective. It’s a sad occurrence but it’s true. People disappointed or irritated sometimes do or say things they don’t really mean. It’s takes a lot of effort and spirit to be calm and stand firm amidst all the pressure. We can’t do it on our own. You can’t. We need the Word of God to remind us to have a calm spirit and a still heart.
Look to God. Read the Word. If reading the Scriptures is what it takes to calm your spirit, do it. You have to.

I have no idea where else the iPad Mini is available in the Philippines.
