You know Christmas is just around the corner when people around you have started collecting stickers for their Limited Edition Starbucks Planner. It’s an annual tradition for the coffee addicts. I never understood why would people spend so much just to get that coveted planner when you can buy one from the bookstore. But since by husband became a coffee drinker last year, I thought I would try. I did collect last year and unlike others who could complete the sticker album in less than a week. It took me two months. That’s because we would only buy one or two every week. Last year, my husband consumed majority of the cups. Every Saturday, he would drink a cup for me. After the Starbucks Planner was claimed, I said I’d never do it again.

I will again this year. Sayang naman nagkakape na lang rin. And since I’m into hoarding collecting journals too, might as well do it for a cause. But I don’t know. I’m thinking of asking my coffee addict friends and churchmates to collect for me. Why, it will cost a lot of me.

Last year, an infographic of the cost of Startbucks 2012 Planner was released:

I’m not a frequent Starbucks drink customer but I’m pretty sure the prices are still the same. If you choose Starbucks Christmas Promo Option 2 (Christmas + regular drinks), you’d be spending about P2,020. For Option 2, it’s around P2,185. That’s a lot of money.

But I think for Filipinos, it’s more than just getting that journal. There’s a certain  thrill to collecting stuff (I know this very well!) and the race towards that coveted, overpriced Starbucks journal. The coffee shop experience for Filipinos have evolved already.

Hanging out at Starbucks to study is something I don’t understand (some Starbucks branches are noisy) but hanging out there inside a Starbucks with your significant other, family, and friends have become a special tradition for a lot of people. The Starbucks coffee experience now also meant togetherness, love, and sharing of life. Naks. For some people in our church, it is where we usually meet for our Care Group Discussions so for others, it can be about faith.

Anyway, a friend of mine got his first Starbucks Planner 2013 on the day of launch. He is one of the first customers in the country to claim his Starbucks 2013 Planner. Thanks to his cousins and friends who helped him get his. Here he is:

If it weren’t for his post, I wouldn’t realize it’s November 3 – the first day of the album sticker bingo for the Starbucks 2013 Planner Philippine Edition.

Hello Kuya! 😀

I have decided what journal to get for myself but I might get one Starbucks Planner too. Or should I? It would be more special though if someone gives it to me as a present. Hahaha! I’m also considering The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s 2013 Giving Journal for a change and it’s cheaper…only 12 drinks.

What about you? What planner are you getting for next year?
