I think by now you know I’m interested in home decor and architecture. I probably got this from my architect dad. Becoming Martha is a challenge but it’s easier in this day and age. What with the Internet making it easier for anyone to learn and share whatever, we have no excuse to run out of ideas.

A simple Google Image search will show you photos of that item or idea you are looking for. There are thousands of interior design blogs, some of which,  have been published as books. Local and international magazines can easily be bought in bookstores and newsstands.

I don’t exactly remember how and when it started but I absolutely enjoy going to furniture stores like Our Home and Dimensione, or hardware stores  like True Value. The latter is one of my and my husband’s happy places. It’s’ the only store in the mall that we both agree on and enjoy checking out. We’ve scored a number of great deals from the store in the past. And now that we’ve started to plan for our “dream house”, I think going to True Value would be more frequent.

It’s where Joshua buys our lights. Just last month, we got an LED light which helped lower our electricity bill. There’s this light in our house that is turned on 24/7 and generates 32-watts per hour. We bought a P600 LED bulb to replace the old one. When we got our Meralco bill, it was lower by a thousand pesos. The only thing we changed was the bulb which is now running 5-watts.

Some IKEA products are also available in True Value. I’m impressed at how the store can offer the pieces near the original prices. You see, we don’t have IKEA in the Philippines so some  stores are taking advantage by doubling the prices of IKEA products they offer. Luckily, only True Value keeps IKEA’s affordability in the country.

I also love checking out the Houseware and Kitchen Section because True Value offers regular promos and discounts like this one:

We don’t need a new chair or table but I will take advantage of this particular sale to buy some paint. You see, our bathroom and bedroom ceiling needs to be repainted now that the roof is fixed. The leaks caused the brown spots on the ceiling. Plus, I’m planning to spray paint our dining chairs and a few cabinets so yeah, I’m checking out the store.
